Dee and Patsy Roecker McElroy
This bald cypress was given in loving memory of Dee Russel McElroy and Patricia Ann Roecker McElroy (Patsy) by their daughter, Shelley McElroy Williams and son-in-law, Jim Williams. Bald cypress is a prevalent tree on the McElroy’s beloved family farm, the Peach Creek Ponderosa, where they raised cows, ducks, dogs, a pony and three kids and hosted many a memorable gathering for family and friends.
Dee and Patsy met and fell in love as teenagers in marching band in Wharton, Texas. They married while attending The University of Texas at Austin, spent a couple of years in the Army in Virginia, then returned to Texas where they spent the rest of their lives. In addition to the music that brought them together, they found great joy and fulfillment in their family, friends, church, work and community. They had three daughters, Melissa (Richard), Shelley (Jim) and Kimberly (Tom) who they taught more by example than with words to love big, laugh often, give generously and that there is always room for one more at your table. The McElroy “girls” and their husbands strive to live out and pass along the wisdom and virtues of Mimi and Deedad to their grandchildren: Hunter, Austin (Shelby), Haley (James), Chad, Jameson, Sophia, Colton, Amy (Joseph), Jason (Lauren), Sara (Curtis) and Rebecca and their great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Jack, Annaleigh, Mateo, Victoria, Addie, Aidan, Sam, Lessa and Ada Mae.
Though Patsy left this world in 2017 and Dee in 2018, the love they shared and gifts they gave remain.
