Invitiation to Holy Week

Dear Friends in Christ,

As Lent comes to an end and we begin to focus on the events of Holy Week, I want to send you a personal invitation to join us for as many worship opportunities as you can.

We will begin our Holy Week activities with Palm Sunday services at 9 AM and 11:10 AM. These services start outdoors with the Procession of Palms and conclude with the reading of the Passion Gospel according to Matthew. This will be a dramatic reading in which members of the congregation will read the words of the various characters in the story.

Holy Eucharist will be offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of Holy Week at 7:00 PM in the Nave. I commend these services to you as the rhythm of the week progresses with worship leading to Maundy Thursday.

Maundy Thursday will begin with an agape meal in the Parish Hall at 6 PM (sign up here), followed by worship in the Nave that will include Foot Washing, Eucharist, and the Stripping of the Altar. This solemn service commemorates the final hours of Jesus’ life before his crucifixion on Good Friday.

You are invited to participate in the Maundy Thursday Prayer Vigil that will begin at 8:30 PM in the Nave following the Stripping of the Altar and culminates at the Good Friday solemn liturgy offered at Noon. Prior to the Noon service, the youth will be offering the Stations of the Cross: A Living Tableau at 11:30 AM in the Parish Hall to which all are invited.

Holy Saturday will offer the Family Vigil at 5:30 PM in the Parish Hall and the Easter Vigil at 8:30 PM beginning in the Columbarium and processing to the Nave where the story of our faith will be told in lessons from scripture, closing with Holy Eucharist and followed by Revels.

He is Risen! He is Risen, Indeed! Easter Sunday morning will crown Holy Week with the celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord at the 9 AM service in the Parish Hall featuring the Resurrection, St. Nicholas, and Junior Choirs, and the 11:10 AM Choral Eucharist with Brass Quintet, followed by Revels.

I look forward to seeing you throughout Holy Week so that we might share these holy days leading to the glorious resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Faithfully,
John+
