A Season of Transition
Update on Our Rector Search and Transition Process
This past Sunday, the Rev. Canon Marion Sprott from the Diocesan Transition Ministry Office joined All Saints’ for worship. She also led a Q&A session to address our questions about the interim period we are in now and what comes next. She shared a general timeline for the search process and offered helpful insight into what we can expect in the months ahead.
Rev. Marion emphasized that the diocese views All Saints’ as a healthy and vibrant congregation, well-positioned to build on its strengths during this transition. She also reminded parishioners that there will be a call for new Vestry members next month at our Annual Meeting. The Vestry elected for 2026 will play a key role in the search for our next rector.

What is the timeline?
Many of you expressed interest in the overall timeframe for the interim and search process. While we know that everything unfolds in God’s time, the expected timeline is as follows:
Starting this Sunday, December 7, and through the end of December, Rev. Joan Killian will join us, leading our worship services and Adult Formation while Father Jim Bernacki takes the lead in offering pastoral care.
On January 1, the Rev. John Johanssen will join All Saints’ as our Interim Rector. His first Sunday with us will be January 4.
In early Spring, the search process will begin and should proceed as follows:
- Mid-Spring – Congregational meetings and the formation of the Search Committee
- Early Summer – Search Committee creates the parish profile
- Late Summer / Early Fall – Rector position posted
- Fall – Interviews begin
A more detailed description of the process is available here: https://allsaintsconcord.org/looking-ahead/
As we move through this season of transition together, thank you for your prayers, your patience, and your commitment to the life of our parish. If at any time you have questions about the process, please feel free to ask a Vestry member.
A Prayer for Transition
Everpresent and everliving God,
throughout this season of change,
weave us ever more closely into the fabric of your love;
grant us wisdom to discern your will,
patience to await your leading,
and steadfast hearts to continue your work.
Teach us to act justly, practice kindness, and to walk humbly with you.
And, as you once declared through your prophet,
“Behold, I am doing a new thing—now it springs forth.”
Grant us grace to see and join in that new creation,
that in all things your Name may be glorified;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
