Runway Show & Pet Food Collection

The Splashpaw Foundation will hold their Annual Bark & Brew Red Carpet Runway Show Sunday, September 18 at Cabarrus Brewing Company. The event starts at 1:00 PM. The Reverend Nancy Cox and Deacon Jackie Whitfield will be blessing the animals. The Reverend Nancy Cox will offer the opening prayer for the red carpet event.

The people of All Saints’ are invited to donate pet food again this year. The food we donate will be given to Cabarrus Meals on Wheels to distribute to their clients who have pets. Meals on Wheels clients are given pet food for their pets once a month. Most Meals on Wheels recipients live alone. The delivery people are often the only people they see each day. Studies have shown that pets provide many benefits for elderly and disabled people. Some of the benefits include improvement of depression and anxiety symptoms, lower blood pressure, improvement of heart health as well as companionship.

Ericka Southworth and I have been Meals on Wheels volunteers since May of this year. We deliver meals to a few clients who have pets. It is rewarding to see how they care for their pets and how much their pets love them.

We collected over 400 pounds of pet food in 2019. Our goal is to beat that this year. There will be a collection point in the Welcome Center starting Sunday, September 5. I will also be available to pick pet food up from your house. Please call me at 828-776-9414 to coordinate a time for me to pick pet food up from your porch.
